This module provides students with an opportunity to gain professional experience in the heritage sector through a part-time workplace internship. Over the course of the academic year, students will undertake a 24-week internship (or a number of shorter, consecutive internships of similar overall duration) of, on average, two working days per week at an institution, body or business in the heritage sector, e.g. with a museum or with a commercial-sector archaeological company. This module thus is similar in nature to ARP4306 ‘Workplace Internship’ but of a longer duration (two semesters as opposed to one).
You will develop your ability to adapt to a workplace environment, applying your acquired skills in that environment and gaining practical experience working in a business, institution or organization in the local heritage sector. This will provide you with an opportunity to work in a team, understand professional responsibilities and develop your practical skills with a view to maximising future career prospects.
