Community archaeology is a fast-developing field within the overall discipline of archaeology, with an increasing relevance to wider society. This module provides students with insight into the development, delivery and practice of community archaeology, and offers them the experience of working with the Centre for Archaeological Fieldwork, a fieldwork unit that undertakes significant levels of work within community archaeology across Northern Ireland each year.

Learning outcomes

You will gain both a theoretical and practical understanding of the aims, approaches and practice of community archaeology, and you will develop skills enabling you to work in the community archaeology sector.
